Grilled Sesame Asparagus

A simple marinade makes all the difference 🌱

Good asparagus doesn't need much fuss—but it certainly doesn't mind a little flavor. 😉 Sesame oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, garlic, and ginger turn these green spears into something seriously craveable. Give them a quick turn over high heat for beautiful browning while keeping that fresh snap. Serve them warm and watch a humble vegetable disappear surprisingly fast. 🔥

Grilled Sesame Asparagus

Yield: 6 to 8 servings

3 lbs asparagus, tough ends removed

1 tablespoon honey

1/3 cup sesame oil

1/3 cup soy sauce or tamari

1/3 cup rice wine vinegar

3 garlic cloves, minced

1/4-inch fresh ginger, grated

1/4 teaspoon chili pepper flakes

Place all ingredients into a Ziplock bag or 9x13 pan, mix to combine. Add asparagus (making sure evenly coated) and marinate covered for 1 hour to overnight.

Prepare a medium-high charcoal fire, preheat a gas grill to medium-high, or heat a large grill pan over medium-high heat. Remove asparagus from marinade place on the hot grill until lightly brown, about 5 minutes. Turn often until asparagus is browned on all sides but still holds its shape. Enjoy warm.

Chef Stacy Tip: Summer grilling over? Bake asparagus at 425F until roasted yet still holds its shape, about 15 minutes.
